Canyon Rim House
A single-story home stretched along the bench, with the great room turned square to the canyon mouth and a roof that lifts toward the morning light.
Meridian Studio — Architecture
Every Meridian project starts as lines on this board. Pick a sheet — we’ll set out the site, pour the foundation, raise the frame and hand you the finished building.

SHEET A-101 · PHASE 01 / 04
Setting out the site — excavation, footings, foundation walls, slab.
Residential · Sheet A-101 · As Built
Meridian Studio is a Salt Lake City architecture practice designing custom homes across the Wasatch Front — light-first, site-honest houses that start as careful drawings and end as rooms you never want to leave.
Selected Work · Residential
A single-story home stretched along the bench, with the great room turned square to the canyon mouth and a roof that lifts toward the morning light.
Every room faces inward to a private courtyard — borrowed privacy in the middle of the city, with a single shade tree doing most of the cooling.
A steep A-frame tucked into the aspens — snow-shedding roof, a wall of glass on the grove side, and a loft that sleeps the whole crew.
Services · Residential
Ground-up houses designed around your site, your light and your routines — from first sketch to final walk-through.
Re-planning the house you already love: structure, flow and daylight reworked without erasing its character.
Accessory dwellings, in-law suites and additions that read as if they were always part of the original drawing.
Snow loads, sun angles and stone — regional modern houses built for Utah’s benches, canyons and high desert.
Process
We walk your site and your life — how mornings run, where the light lands, what the budget has to respect.
Plans, elevations and a model you can walk through on paper. Nothing gets priced until the drawing is right.
We stay on site through framing and finishes with your builder, checking the work against the sheets, line by line.
Keys, a bound set of as-built drawings, and a house that keeps making sense years after move-in day.
About · Meridian Studio
Meridian Studio is a Salt Lake City architecture practice that still believes the drawing is the contract. Before anything is priced, poured or framed, it has to work on paper — in plan, in section, and in the light of a real Utah afternoon.
We keep the studio small on purpose: the person who draws your house is the person standing in its framing. We draw it. Then we build it. That’s the whole pitch.

Tell us about the site and the life you want in it. The first conversation is a drawing session — free, unhurried, and measured twice.
Commercial · Sheet A-201 · As Built
Meridian Studio designs commercial buildings across Salt Lake City — workplaces, retail and mixed-use projects drawn tight to the pro forma, the code book and the street they stand on.
Selected Work · Commercial
A six-story speculative office building with a daylit core, floor plates that subdivide cleanly, and a ground floor given back to the sidewalk.
A full-block retail row in load-bearing brick — deep storefronts, a continuous awning line, and signage bands drawn for tenants not yet signed.
An adaptive reuse of a former metalworks — the stack stays, the sawtooth roof becomes skylights, and heavy timber moves upstairs as desks.
Services · Commercial
Office, retail and industrial buildings designed from the site plan out — structure, envelope and budget in one set of sheets.
Stacked programs that pencil: retail at the street, work above, homes on top — each with its own entrance, systems and story.
Fast, permit-ready interiors for offices, restaurants and shops — drawn so your contractor can price them without a single RFI.
Old warehouses, foundries and storefronts given a second working life — structure kept, systems new, character intact.
Process
Site, zoning, budget and business case on one table. We tell you what the parcel can actually hold before a dollar is designed away.
Schematics to permit set, coordinated with engineers and priced at every gate — no surprises hiding in the details.
Construction administration with boots on the slab: submittals, site visits and answers while the frame is still open.
Certificate of occupancy, punch list closed, and a bound as-built set your facilities team will actually use.
About · Meridian Studio
Commercial work fails on paper long before it fails on site — a column in the wrong bay, a core that eats the floor plate, a budget drawn in pencil. Meridian Studio’s habit is the opposite: coordinate early, dimension everything, and let the drawing carry the argument.
Developers and owners across the Wasatch Front bring us the complicated parcels and the tired buildings. We draw it. Then we build it.

Bring the site and the numbers. The first session is a feasibility sketch — zoning, massing and a straight answer about what it should cost.
